Forthcoming activities
The next lunch is in the Ateneu at 14.00 on 17 November. For those who don't know, the Ateneu is on the corner of Carrer Canuda (the first on the left going down the Rambla) and Plaça de Madrid. The restaurant entrance is inside the club entrance, just by the square.
On Saturday 28 October I will be in the Café Zurich at about 14.30 for a while. After that I will spend the afternoon rambling down the Rambla towards Columbus and perhaps around the Maremagnum or along Moll de la Fusta. Anyone who wishes to join me in this informal opportunity to get together can find me in the Zurich or phone me later to see how far we have progressed (616 480 490).
The Christmas lunch will be on 15 December in El Gran Café, carrer Avinyó, off carrer Ferran. Spouses / partners are invited.
I still really do hope to organise a day out in Girona to visit our members there.
Activities 2005 – 2006
Just as the Oxford Group kindly invite us to their lunches, we invite their members to our activities.
In July we visited the Maritime Museum in Barcelona to see the Pompeii exhibition.
In September Valerie and Peter went to the MNAC to see the German Expressionist exhibition.
In October a group went to the Catalan Science Museum.
The walk planned for November from Vallvidrera to Tibidabo failed to attract support, as did the proposed trip to the Pantomime in December.
The Boat Race lunch was on Friday 31 March in El Gran Café at 14.00 with the Oxford group, before the result was known. We were pleased to welcome José Antonio Valverde and his wife Doreen, who divide their time between Nova Scotia and Sitges. As a result I have received an e-mail from John Devlin of the Cambridge Society of Nova Scotia establishing relations across the sea.
